Optical Networks and Photonics Systems option

pictogramme cœurFor those who like

  • to gain insight into large fixed networks, from the physical layer to the network architecture, from transoceanic links to data centers;
  • to combine physics, information theory, digital signal processing, and network protocols;
  • the integration of future photonic and quantum functions into fiber optic network and data center infrastructures.

Objectives

The option is offered jointly with Télécom SudParis and IOGS (Institut d’Optique Graduate School). Available from the 2nd year tracks Wireless networks and IoT and Telecommunications: from data to systems, it aims to train engineers and researchers who can meet the following challenges:

  • design optical communication systems suited to given constraints and required applications;
  • design cross-layer optical network architectures, from the physical layer to higher network layers;
  • select optical components according to their performances among current and future solutions;
  • and design the photonic devices needed for optical data processing and transport in future networks.

Specifically

  • Optical networks,
  • Optical communications,
  • Physics of photonic and optoelectronic devices,
  • Information theory,
  • Digital signal processing, ….
  • + PRIM (Master Innovation Research Project)
