In May and June, webinars with the International Relations and Languages & Cultures departments are offered to help you prepare for your stay in France. The student association will also contact you to inform you about the welcome weekend (WEI) it organizes before start of term.

The International Relations Department organises a webinar in March and in June about the administrative procedures to follow when moving to France for engineering students.
Our partners to help you with administrative formalities
We have a partnership with the Science Accueil association, which has more than 25 years of experience in accompanying scientists who come to study or work in the Paris area. On the association’s website, you can find useful information to prepare for your arrival in France. The association can also help you in your search for accomodation.
For further information, feel free to watch the Campus France tutorials about France’s social security and health insurance system (CPAM), the CVEC, the Visale guarantor system, opening a bank account, and residence permit (for non-European students).
Banks: The Student Union (BDE) has partnerships with a few banks, offering some advantages. Contact them for more information.
Certain health insurance providers also offer discounts to students: for more information, contact the International Relations Office.
Preparing your skills in French as a Foreign Language (FLE)
French language: requirements & preparation
Language requirements
If your programme is taught partly or entirely in French, a B2 level (CEFR) is strongly recommended to ensure good comprehension, written expression, and oral communication. A minimum B1 level is required to start classes in September.
Accepted language certificates
- French: DELF, DALF
- English: Cambridge First, Cambridge Advanced, Cambridge Proficiency, IELTS, TOEFL (iBT or ITP), TOEIC
Graduation requirement
To be awarded the Télécom Paris MSc in Engineering degree, you must demonstrate a B2 or C1 level (CEFR) in French by the end of your studies.
Intensive summer French course
An intensive 4- or 6-week French as a Foreign Language (FLE) course is organized during the summer for engineering students by Télécom Paris in partnership with Le Cavilam – Alliance Française. As places are limited, early registration is recommended. This course is highly recommended for students wishing to strengthen their French before the start of the academic year.

Catering
The Télécom Paris building houses a restaurant and two cafeterias with a capacity of 1000 covers per day. These areas are open to all students and staff on the Institut Polytechnique de Paris campus.
