ITU, Istanbul: Expanding Erasmus+ partnerships in Türkiye with new agreement

Campus-ITU-Istanbul
Télécom Paris signs a new Erasmus+ agreement with Istanbul Technical University (ITU), strengthening student mobility in Türkiye alongside Boğaziçi University (Istanbul) and Bilkent University (Ankara). This new partnership offers greater diversity of academic environments across the country’s main university hubs.
The agreement builds on long-standing academic ties developed through the ATHENS Programme. ITU and Télécom Paris have both proven to be popular destinations for students from both institutions during recent ATHENS Weeks, reflecting growing mutual interest. The new agreement now enables longer exchanges, offering students a more immersive international experience.

A leading engineering institution in a global tech hub

Founded in 1773, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) is one of the world’s oldest technical universities and a leading public research institution in engineering and natural sciences. It ranks 2nd in the 2026 QS Europe University Rankings – Western Asia and performs strongly in QS subject rankings, particularly in engineering and technology, computer science, and electrical and electronic engineering.

Located in Istanbul, close to the historic city centre, ITU offers a modern and well-equipped campus, with affordable living and accommodation costs. Students benefit from a wide range of academic, cultural, and student-led activities.

Istanbul is widely recognised as a major international hub for research, innovation, and industry, offering a highly dynamic environment for students.

Academic exchange aligned with Télécom Paris’s strengths

Under the Erasmus+ agreement, students from Télécom Paris and ITU can participate in one- or two-semester exchanges in fields aligned with key strengths at Télécom Paris:

  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)
  • Mathematics and Statistics
  • Embedded Systems and IoT
  • Electrical Engineering

This programme provides access to high-quality courses taught in English in a stimulating international academic environment. Télécom Paris looks forward to welcoming students from ITU and to sending its own students to Türkiye.

Strengthening European mobility

Through this agreement, Télécom Paris continues to strengthen European mobility within the Erasmus+ framework while expanding exchanges between Western Europe and a key region strategically located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia.
