An international team competition

The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual global event organised by Huawei, aimed at students in higher education institutions. Launched in 2015, it is recognised as an official national university competition in China and is a flagship partner of the UNESCO Global Skills Academy internationally. This 10th edition — in which France took part for the first time — brought together more than 1,180,000 participants from over 2,000 institutions in more than 100 countries.

The competition takes place in three stages: national, continental and then global. It assesses theoretical knowledge of digital technologies, practical skills in real-world environments (Huawei Cloud) and teamwork across several tracks: Network, Cloud and Computing.

A practical exam « against the clock »

The « Cloud Track », in its global final stage, takes the form of an 8-hour practical lab exam, conducted in teams directly on Huawei Cloud environments. The topics covered, as officially published by Huawei, include the deployment of cloud infrastructure, the development and training of artificial intelligence models via the ModelArts platform, natural language processing, and data pipeline management. This is a demanding challenge, in which teams are faced with novel problems to solve under time pressure, requiring both specialist technical skills and strong coordination abilities.
