Dual Degree in Engineering and Management with Sciences Po Paris

Télécom Paris and Sciences Po Paris offer a dual degree program that provides students with a unique triple expertise—social sciences, management, and digital engineering—to meet the demands of an increasingly complex world.

Academic Structure

This three-year dual Master’s degree program enables students to:

  • strengthen their professional profile by combining the dual skill sets needed to address the digital transformation;
  • gain strong professional credibility;
  • seize more opportunities through a diverse range of skills and responsibilities.

The program is based on the master’s degrees offered by the School of Management and Impact at Sciences Po Paris and on the two-year study tracks of the engineering program at Télécom Paris.

It covers digital topics relevant to the strategies of businesses, organizations, and government agencies (AI, cybersecurity, sovereignty).

The first year takes place at Sciences Po Paris, and the following two years at Télécom Paris.

Course structure

1st year:

At Sciences Po Paris, students enrol on one of the following Master’s programmes:

  • Master Finance et Stratégie (French track)
  • Master Finance and Strategy (English track)
  • Master International Business & Sustainability (English track)

2nd year:

At Télécom Paris’s Palaiseau campus, students follow the two-year programme of the engineering degree and choose two study tracks from those offered by the school.

3rd year:

The first semester is devoted to a module specific to the dual degree programme, organised around four major themes:

  • Strategy and digital transformation
  • Data-Driven Decision Making (DDDM) and data visualisation
  • Challenges and opportunities in technology
  • Regulatory and ethical issues in the digital sector

These themes are explored through lectures, workshops and a ‘theme-based’ project.

Students then have the opportunity to undertake a semester-long academic exchange at one of Télécom Paris’ partner universities. This semester is not compulsory for the award of the dual degree.

A six-month internship concludes the third year.

Subject to the fulfilment of requirements at each institution, students are awarded the degree from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris and the title of engineer from Télécom Paris.

Application

The programme is open to students from Télécom Paris and Sciences Po Paris, as well as external applicants, via a joint application process.

Two different procedures

International procedure:

The international graduate admissions procedure is open to applicants who have obtained or will obtain (by the end of this academic year) a non-French undergraduate degree (or 180 ECTS credits / bachelor’s degree or equivalent) from an institution located in France or abroad OR a master’s level degree (magister or magistracy, for example) for countries in which universities do not award undergraduate qualifications.

Entry requirements:

A specialization in Mathematics, mathematics and informatics or in mathematics and physics is required. Candidates applying through the international procedure must be able to demonstrate that they have completed at least 45% of their coursework in scientific subjects (mathematics, computer science, physics), with half of that coursework in mathematics, in the following trainings: Mathematical Engineering – Mathematics and Business – Mathematics and Economics – Bachelors Arts and Science.

French procedure:

You should apply through this procedure if you have already obtained, or will obtain by the end of the current academic year, a French undergraduate degree (or 180 ECTS credits) from an institution located either in France or abroad.

Entry requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (L3) in Mathematics, or a dual degree in Mathematics and Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics, or Mathematics and Humanities and Social Sciences (MIASHS type)
  • CPGE (preparatory classes for the French ‘grandes écoles’) or ‘enhanced bachelor’s degree’
  • C1 level of English (proficiency)

Dual degree, triple expertise

This dual degree is innovative in that it enables students to develop a dual perspective: on the one hand, the ability to understand technological tools – how they work, how they have been programmed and what their limitations are – and, on the other, an understanding of their impact on society and business, drawing on the insights of the social sciences and management.
Natacha Valla, Dean, School of Management and Impact, Sciences Po Paris

The aim of this dual degree is to train professionals who will not only be able to speak the language of technology and understand it, but who will also have the right mindset to tackle the social and societal challenges posed by the digital revolution.
