Repères biographiquesShort Biography

Dr Christophe Roblin is an Associate Professor at Télécom Paris – Institut Polytechnique de Paris since fall 2010, and RFM² team head since July 2025. He has been Associate Professor at ENSTA (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées) for 18 years, and Microwave group head since 1995. He has graduated in Electrical Engineering from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace since 1987, and has received a PhD in sub-millimetre receivers for radio astronomy in 1992. Dr Roblin has a strong experience in microwave circuit, antenna design and modelling and propagation channel modelling. Since 2002, his research activities have been in the area of Ultrawideband communications, focussing on UWB antenna design, characterization and parametric modelling. He is also currently involved in antenna and channel topics for Body Area Networks, and statistical modelling of antennas operating under uncertain conditions (flexible antennas, textile antennas, and antennas affected by their immediate environment). He has significantly contributed to several European projects – Adamo (FP4), Ultrawaves (FP5) and Pulsers I & II – and has been the ENSTA team leader for Pulsers I and the French National Research Agency (ANR) project Banet on WBANs. He was involved in the FP7 projects Select (concerning hybrid uhf/uwb rfids with localisation capabilities (RTLS)) and Lexnet (EMF exposure). Dr Roblin has authored or co-authored more than 160 publications, communications, technical reports and two book chapters.

Research activities

His research activities in the fields of antennas and propagation channels include, in particular: ultra-wideband communications, wave-human interactions—particularly wireless body networks—RFID antennas, parametric and/or statistical modeling of antennas (deformable, perturbed by the near-field environment), propagation channel modeling in indoor environments, and joint antenna/channel modeling. He teaches or has taught in the fields of electromagnetism, antennas, propagation, electronics (analog, digital, or microwave), and signal processing.
