Mansoor Yousefi, Assistant Professor at Télécom ParisTech and member of the GTO team within LTCI lab, has been awarded  an ERC Starting Grant by the European Research Council (ERC) for his project entitled « Communication Using the Nonlinear Fourier Transform (COMNFT) ».

The objective of his project is to determine the information-theoretic limits in optical fiber networks, and to devise communication schemes that approach these limits. In particular, the project aims to improve understanding of the fiber nonlinearity and its impact on high-speed optical fiber communication systems. A generous funding of 1.5M Euro over a five-year period will enable Mansoor Yousefi to recruit seven researchers and, together with other members of his team, carry out this research.
