"Mosaïk": multilingual and intercultural activities for newcomers

Mosaik-2024-57
On 12 September, all the French and international newstudents at Telecom were able to take part in the Mosaïk activity, organized by the Languages and Cultures department teachers in collaboration with the International Relations department and the Student Office.

The morning’s objectives were as follows:

  • Becoming aware of the diversity of student profiles at the school
  • Meeting each other by communicating in different languages
  • Being integrated by integrating others
  • Experiencing a moment of supervised intercultural exchange

Multilingual and intercultural activities

The students were able to exchange ideas in multicultural groups around world maps, cultural themes and their personal experiences as they moved from one language to another. They were also able to share moments of their lives in pairs with students they had never met before, while practicing listening skills.

This teaching activity, which was greatly appreciated, is fully in line with the school’s internationalization strategy, and more particularly with internationalization ‘at home’. It contributes both to the integration of international students and to the development of the multilingual and intercultural skills expected of engineering students.

Working with the Student Office and associations

Every year, the International Relations Department and the Languages and Cultures Department join forces with the Student Office, the International Office and the Sports Office to offer international students from different parts of the world numerous opportunities to integrate on campus throughout their studies.
