Claire Levallois-Barth is a law associate professor at Télécom Paris, Coordinator of the Values and Personal Information Policies Chair at the Institut Mines-Télécom and head of Area 5 “Protection of personal data involved in the connected vehicle” of the “Connected Cars & Cyber Security” (C3S) Chair at Télécom Paris. Previously, she worked in a Parisian law firm specializing in new technologies.
Claire Levallois-Barth is interested in the evolution of the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms in the digital age. She focuses in particular on the issue of personal data protection, especially in the context of big data and the Internet of Things, as well as on the management of digital identities.
She is the co-founder and coordinator of the Research Chair of the Mines-Telecom Institute Values and Policies of Personal Information (VPIP) inaugurated by the Mines-Telecom Institute in April 2013. This multi-disciplinary Chair was created in partnership with IN Groupe (formerly Imprimerie Nationale), BNP Paribas, Dassault Systemes, Orange, Qwant and Sopra Steria. It benefits from the support of the French National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL) and the French Interministerial Department for Digital and State Information and Communication Systems (DINSIC) under the authority of the Prime Minister.
Claire Levallois-Barth is associate editor of the Annals of Telecommunications, a member of the Commission de réflexion sur l’Ethique de la Recherche en sciences et technologies du Numérique d’Allistene (CERNA), a member of the scientific committee of the International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) and a member of the AXA Data Privacy Expert Panel.
