From Rome to Modena: Télécom Paris strengthens ties with Italy
25 September 2025
- Renewal of its partnership with Sapienza Università di Roma;
- New Erasmus+ agreement with Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UniMoRe).
These agreements aim to broaden opportunities for student mobility, internships, and teaching exchanges—for Télécom Paris engineering students and faculty members, as well as students in engineering from Sapienza and UniMoRe.
A strengthened partnership with a top-tier university: Sapienza
Founded in 1303, Sapienza is one of the oldest universities in Italy and, with over 120,000 students, one of the largest in Europe. It consistently ranks among the top Italian universities in global rankings, currently standing 2nd in Italy in the QS World University Rankings 2026.
A partner of Télécom Paris since 2017, Sapienza regularly hosts our engineering students for semester- or year-long study exchanges. This is again the case this fall with two Télécom Paris students, Maria Borhorquez Caro and Thaddée Plaszczynski, beginning their mobility in Rome.
The agreement also allows students from Sapienza’s Faculty of Information Engineering, Informatics and Statistics to study at Télécom Paris, strengthening both academic and cultural ties between the two institutions. This fall, we were delighted to welcome Camilla Iannarilli, who joined Télécom Paris through this partnership.
A new Erasmus+ agreement in Modena, with UniMoRe
Télécom Paris has signed a new agreement with Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia (UniMoRe), the third oldest university in Europe, with roots dating back to 1175 and one of the best public universities in Italy. The partnership, established with UniMoRe’s Faculty of Information Engineering, Informatics and Statistics, enables exchanges lasting from six months to a full academic year—for study, internships, and teaching.
This new agreement further strengthens the ties between our institutions, building on existing collaborations notably by faculty member Vadim Malvone. The partnership also supports the exchange of students and future PhD candidates working on topics such as multi-agent systems and software verification. These areas complement the academic focus of our Distributed Software Systems (SLR) and Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Operations Research (MITRO) MSc in Engineering tracks.
Strong links in Italy
With these two agreements, Télécom Paris now has nine active exchange partnerships with prestigious Italian universities, including a double degree program with Politecnico di Torino. This confirms Télécom Paris’ strong academic positioning in Europe and particularly in Italy, alongside other top institutions.
This fall, we were delighted to welcome six Italian students to our MSc in engineering program. We also strongly encourage our students to discover these Italian destinations, which offer unique academic and personal opportunities. We wish Maria and Thaddée the very best for their exchange at Sapienza, and extend a warm welcome to Camilla who has joined our campus this fall from Sapienza.
